EMC Web Hosting Update On Outage

Below is an update on the EMC Telecom, EMC Web Hosting, Myriad Networks outage.

- – - Donna

Here is the status of our situation.

We are still down as of 7:30am MST AZ time. We are working with our data center co-lo to restore our internet connectivity and we anticipate to be online sometime this morning. We don’t have any specific time frame when this will happen, but know that we have been working on it all night and will continue to work on it until we get this resolved and everyone back online.

The main issue is related to our network connectivity from our providers and we are working this morning on getting us back online asap.

Once we get everything back online, we will release more details on what happened and answer any questions.

Also any info regarding a lawsuit or anything is completely false. We are not being sued by anyone. The chatter on Twitter and elsewhere is old and have no relevance on any current situation.

I will keep you posted throughout the day as I get more info.

Mike, you haven’t had any lawsuits….yet. To those who think this is an ‘outage’, consider this:
    1. Why is their phone number ‘disabled’?
    2. Why is he not releasing the name of their colo for verification of an outage?
    3. Ever hear of redundant connections?
    4. Do you REALLY want to be with a VPS provider who “does not have a support system in place”
    5. Why hasn’t EMC set up a temp site with another ISP (Godaddy for example) to let us all know what’s going on instead of these random tweets?
    6. Why isn’t there another published tele # that has not been ‘disabled’?

Personally, I see the writing on the wall for EMC. The lights are out and no one’s home. I started working on moving last night around 7pm EST. I’ve already got another VPS set up (which takes about 24 hours to do, BTW…fair warning) and am uploading client sites and reconfiguring email as we speak. I’ve disputed the last credit card charge from EMC and am mad as heck. My clients are mostly understanding but I know I will lose business. I’m already going to give them all 1 month credit for this. Lawsuit? Oh yeah. There will be one from many VAR’s who have lost and will continue to lose clients, billable hours, and most importantly reputation and respect from their clients. Mike/EMC, good luck.

Anyone who’s been with EMC for any length of time is probably feeling the same way I do right now. Why am I still with this company?!? How many “Outages” does it take for me to move on? I think, if they somehow regain connectivity, I’m going to relocate. But I have a nasty feeling like I’m not going to have any choice in the matter…
